Goals |
You will learn basic cognitive psychological theories and the role these play in decision making. In addition you will gain familiarity with psychological research methods. You will learn to apply cognitive psychological theories and concepts to practical decision situations and to validate them by experiments.

Description |
This block consists of two parts:
1. Course: Cognitive Psychology and Decision Making. This course aims at furthering students’ understanding of the role of cognitive psychological mechanisms in human decision making. The course will introduce the main theories and concepts in cognitive psychology, such as theories of learning, memory, knowledge representations, and information processing. These concepts will be related to classical and recent empirical research on decision making. You will apply these theories to contemporary decision making cases. Tutorial groups (seminars) are the primary teaching methods. Next to participation and written exam, facilitation is also assessed. 2. Practical Training: Cognition Experiments In this training, tailored to the course, you will learn about the practical aspects of cognition experiments by means of practical assignments. |
