This course outlines the main steps in the equity analysis and portfolio management process. Themes covered in this course include stock market inefficiencies (anomalies), behavioral finance, variables that forecast stock returns, quantitative optimization methods based on stock return forecasting models and mean-variance analysis, equity style management, transaction costs, and measuring the performance of active portfolio managers. The reading of articles and a main course book will be supplemented with excel cases that ask students to put theory to practice. A decent knowledge of excel in conjunction with sufficient knowledge of statistics, regression models, and modern investment portfolio theory are critical for a successful completion of the cases.
