Goals
Students will have acquired understanding of methodological and practical issues when developing an empirical research strategy in economics.
Description
This course provides an overview of the methodological and practical issues that arise in empirical research in economics. The subject matter includes identification, data collection, and measurement problems. In the course key papers are read and discussed representing different approaches in empirical research in economics. During the course students can work on their own research topic, by developing an appropriate research strategy. Simulating the data generating process, different research strategies can be compared, and potential weaknesses of each approach can be identified.

Basic understanding of econometrics, as e.g. in Wooldridge "Introductory Econometrics"
