Develop an in-depth understanding of some of the key issues of importance to developing, implementing, and managing information systems within globally oriented Organisations
 Understand how information systems and technologies can be used to support the operation of global Organisations
 Understand alternative approaches to sourcing information management services and solutions
  Understand and apply some of the key findings reported upon in recent literature to address global information management issues
 Acquire skills in planning and executing global expansion of an IT function
 Develop an improved ability to analyse and understand the implications that an increasingly global business environment has for future information system needs.

As Organisations confront an increasingly global business environment, information system managers are confronted with a wide range of new challenges. In addition to the need to implement and operate systems that are accessible from anywhere in the world at any time of the day, effective managers must understand the implications that diverse and sometimes conflicting political, legal, social, and technological environments have for information systems and the information system function. This course thus examines empirical and theoretical insights that are available to understand and respond to the demands that global business operations place on the development, implementation, and management of information systems.

This course draws on a series of academic and practice oriented articles that should be available electronically.

There are no specific prerequisites for this course. However, it does build upon the basic understanding of the role of information systems in Organisations that is provided in an introductory MIS course such as the Management Information Systems course offered to International Business students (EBC2003). Courses and workload are very demanding for all IB Master courses. Exchange students need to have obtained a Bachelor degree in business or a related field.
