Goals
Students will learn:
* How to distinguish a good research design from a bad research design
* How to distinguish good empirical tests from bad empirical tests
* How to interpret research findings and reflect on the generalizability of data
* How to effectively communicate about research to policy makers and laymen
* How to develop products or design policies based on research data
Description
In this course, we teach you how to identify, assess and constructively criticize flawed research. You will learn how to spot intended and unintended bad research, both quantitative and qualitative. We cover a broad range of topics, ranging from classic regression-based research, to infographics and modern data science approaches. The empirical examples we cover show the relevance of identifying flawed research for both academic, policy makers and business decision makers.
