| Description |
This introductory course in Economics aims to demonstrate the relevance of economics as a tool to address societal challenges and understand how society functions. It explores how economic concepts and tools can explain human behavior, market outcomes, and strategic interactions between organizations. Further, it places these issues within relevant systems (economic but also historic) and discusses the national and global implications.
The course is structured around six key challenges, each introduced in one week through one lecture and two tutorials. Examples include: * Why are some people poor and others rich? * Why is everything expensive now? * Why is it so difficult to achieve the climate transition? * Is the AI revolution an opportunity or a threat? * Why does the world feel so unstable right now? * Why is the UN incapable of stopping wars? |
