Goals
All businesses and Organisations develop or buy information systems. While the main purpose of these systems is to store and retrieve information, each system is unique and meets a different demand. In order to build properly functioning systems, it is essential that all requirements of the new information systems are analysed and translated into blueprints for future system implementations. This course will provide you with the necessary insights, and teach you the skills and methodologies to analyse and design information systems.

Graduates have academic, evidence-based knowledge and understanding of theories, methods and tools in business/economics.
Graduates can apply their knowledge and understanding to identify and solve real life business/economic problems. This includes demonstrating analytical skills and a problem-solving attitude.
Graduates can effectively function in a multicultural environment and work in multicultural teams. This includes demonstrating interpersonal skills and a high proficiency of English.
Description
All businesses and organizations develop or buy information systems (ISs). While the main purpose of these systems is to store and retrieve information, each system is unique and meets a different demand. To build properly functioning systems, it is essential that all requirements of the new information systems are analyzed and translated into blueprints for future system implementations. This course will provide the student with the necessary insights and teach her the skills and methodologies to analyze and design information systems. The course will discuss the systems development lifecycle to describe the process of developing an information system. In particular, the course will deal with techniques that are typically used in the planning, analysis and design stages.

Prerequisites
TRANSITIONAL REGULATIONS:
This course is in transition within the pre-master International Business specialisation Information Management and Business Intelligence

The following rule applies to pre-master International Business specialisation Information Management and Business Intelligence students who started the programme prior to academic year 2023-2024.
TRANSITIONAL REGULATION (EBC2072):
Repeat the course or replace it with either Digitalisation and Organisation (EBC2060) in period 1 or Knowledge Management (EBC2039) in period 2.
