| Goals |
The main goal of the course is to equip students with a toolbox of techniques that are in- dispensable in the understanding, design, and management of operations. This is achieved through a combination of exercises, cases, and literature study. Active engagement of students is expected, through self-dependent literature study, solution and presentation of exercises and cases, as well as practical sessions related to cases and exercises.
At the end of this course, you will... * know the important role and nature of Supply Chain Operations in (international) business; * be able to apply and develop techniques for understanding, design, management and optimization of different supply chain decisions and processes; * understand and be able to judge the role and functioning of quantitative models for decision making in the management of various supply chain decisions and processes; * be able to derive managerial decisions based on the outcome of those models; * adopt a critical view on different supply chain decisions and processes supported by the academic literature. * Introduce generic algorithms and heuristics that can be applied to a variety of problems. Soft Skills * Present results in oral form, adjusted to a non-specialist audience * Work in teams on multiple cases and facilitations * React on facilitations of other students by giving constructive feedback. |

| Description |
The course Supply Chain Operations Management deals with the design, management and improvement of the processes that create a firm's primary services and products. Topics include scheduling, facility location, sales & operations planning, inventory control, and supply chain collaboration. The course combines theory and exercises with several cases and research articles from the manufacturing and service industry.
