Goals
This course is an advanced macroeconomic course. The students are expected to apply the models learnt in Macroeconomics in order to write a publishable empirical paper in international macroeconomics and finance
Description
This course main goal is to provide students with the necessary tools to solve macroeconomic models using a computer, with an emphasis on policy evaluation and welfare analysis. For this purpose, students are trained in numerical methods to solve a variety of macroeconomic models on the computer.
The second goal is a necessary condition to the first goal. The second goal is to introduce the concepts and theories of modern macroeconomics, which emphasise the use of dynamics, uncertainty and general equilibrium outcomes.
Compared with previous courses, one value-added is the strict connection between theoretical models and the data.
In the end, students will be familiar with the most common models in macroeconomics and will be able to conduct research in the field of quantitative macroeconomics.
