In this course, we focus on three extremely important real-world cases pertaining to the causes and consequences of problems of sustainability and resilience: i) climate change and natural hazards, ii) management of the global commons and iii) financial system fragility. In the first part of the course, each of the three cases is introduced using external experts as well as relevant literature. Depending on the project, they need to choose the appropriate empirical strategy and methods for the analysis.
