Students learn to apply mathematical tools to model economic problems, to develop the theoretical framework of microeconomics and to prove its results

| Description |
The course follows the standard canon of microeconomic theory: consumer theory, expected utility theory, producer theory, general equilibrium theory. Note that this is a research master course. We treat topics rigorously, that means that a substantial amount of time will be spent on mathematical proofs.
Examination method: Assessment method dpends on number of participants. |

| Prerequisites |
Mathematics for Economists or Quantitative Methods (see for example the appendix of Jehle and Reny (2011)) on an intermediate level. Microeconomics on an intermediate level (for example , Varian H.R. (2003), Intermediate Microeconomics, A Modern Approach, 6th edition, Norton, New York.). Some knowledge of Game Theory is very helpful but is not required.
