Goals
This course provides a more formal background to financial system architecture, the industrial organisation of financial institutions and financial system regulation
Description

THE INFORMATION PROVIDED HERE IS BASED ON THE COURSE SETUP PRIOR TO THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS. AS A CONSEQUENCE OF THE CRISIS, COURSE COORDINATORS MAY BE FORCED TO CHANGE THE TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT METHODS USED. THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ABOUT THE TEACHING/ASSESSMENT METHOD(S) WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE COURSE SYLLABUS. This course provides an introduction to research in Financial Economics. We start with the foundations of the industrial organisation of financial institutions, and build on that to introduce a range of topics including competition, the choice between market and bank financing, financial innovation and regulation and crises.
