Goals
* Know the important role and nature of operations management in international business
* Be able to apply and develop techniques for understanding, design, and management of operations
* Understand and be able to judge the role and functioning of quantitative models for decision making in the management of operations
* Be able to derive managerial decisions based on the outcome of these models
Description
The main focus of operations management is on the transformation of inputs into outputs. It controls all activities involved in producing goods and providing services, and involves the study of the best ways to do this.
In this course, we will explore various topics from the field of operations management that are or crucial importance to remain competitive in today's world. We start at the strategic level and make our way towards operational decision making. More specifically, the following topics will be covered: forecasting, simulation and waiting lines, material requirements planning, production and assembly lines and routing.
