In this Business Engineering skills training we will look at organizing value creation as projects. Business Engineers will play important roles in miscellaneous projects through their working careers. For some their entire career will consist of being members on different project teams (sequential in time and even at the same time). The project management part of this skills training offers an insight in the role of project management in different organizational contexts. Special attention is given to the following issues: project selection, the project organization, the project manager, project planning, resource allocation and project control. The use of projects and project management continues to grow in our society and its organizations. Project management allows us to achieve complex tasks which could not, or only with the greatest of difficulty be achieved if organised in traditional ways. Project management also has a clear link with innovation management as the development of new products and services is predominantly being carried out in project groups. People from different functions or departments in an organization often together with experts from outside the organization itself are brought together on a temporary basis to accomplish a complex task. This course offers an insight into the role of project management in different organizational contexts.
